Commitment Counts as a Catalyst for This Hard Working Mum

After 8 years as a stay at home mum and struggling with the demands of running her own business, Jessica (pictured: right) came to Joblink Plus unsure of her own abilities and potential.

Talking through Jessica's career goals and working through some of the Smart and Skilled funded courses available, Jessica and her Joblink Plus consultant, Kate Gontarski discovered she was eligible to enrol in a Certificate III in Business Administration. Being able to study online at her own pace made it a great choice for the single mum. As it turned out, Jessica completed the course in 3 months, then followed it up by enrolling in a Certificate IV in Accounting.

Seeing Jessica's growing confidence and enthusiasm, consultant Kate contacted Julie-Anne Ellem, owner of Catalyst Plus Pty Ltd with the aim for them to meet. So impressed by Jessica's commitment to achieve, Julie-Anne invited Jessica to interview for work placement with a view to future employment.

Jessica's interview presentation was excellent, and her dedication apparent. "Jessica has so much to offer and is full of potential" said Julie-Anne "I just felt I needed to support her in her career path".

Julie-Anne had been planning to add to her small team in the New Year and told Kate that she was considering making a place for Jessica with Catalyst Plus. Catalyst Plus is a small business, and the extra incentive offered with a Wage Subsidy made it an easy decision.

Jessica commenced paid employment with Catalyst Plus in January. She is based in the new Muswellbrook office and is thrilled with working flexible hours to help balance family commitments.

Most recently Jessica completed her Certificate IV in Accounting and has enrolled into a Tax Agent Statement of Attainment. "I would not have been able to do this without my consultant's support and encouragement to enrol in study" said Jessica "Just having someone who believes in you, makes all the difference".

Hearty congratulations to Jessica, Julie-Anne and Kate -- a wonderful example of courage, commitment and community.
